Movie where good guy shoots bad guy while bad guy holds hostage?

I’m trying to remember the name of a movie where the above happens.
Ok remember Die Another Day after Bond is traded back over the bridge and escapes he is put into virtual reality training and right at the end he nearly shoots M or shoots her in the hand but kills the bad guy.
The movie I am thinking of is exactly like that the bad guy is holding a gun to the hostage’s head and the good guy shoots the bad guy without the hostage dying in a really fake Hollywood way.
This happens in a corridor of some building in a kinda of Bruce Willis/DIe Hard terrorist setting. It might even be Bruce Willis but its not any of the Die Hard films (I don’t think) The good guy and the hostage are all friends afterwards and the hostage is like “Dang man you nearly shot me man”

Im studying for my final in business law and im stuck on a review question. Its true or false and the statement is: A security is a financial instrument issued only by those companies trading on the New York and American Stock Excanges. Now I know that a security can be a stock or bond and stocks are obviously traded on the market but what about bonds?
What’s a good major that could help me one day head a hedge/mutual fund?
