Do hedge fund traders have more social status? (income is about 480 000 – 500 000 a year)?
I went to a wedding a year and a half ago and the groom (who I didn’t know) was a hedge fund trader… I didn’t think much of it at the time…
But I was part of this charity organization and when the guy mentioned he was a hedge fund trader, they automatically made him the president of the organization… people were always chasing after him and looking for an excuse to to talk to him because he had so much social status

I guess they like the fact that his jollys are paid for by private industry rather than charity donations

Social status? No, they have financial status. They only have more social status if you equate being rich with being of high social status. Any moron from any background can make a lot of money if that’s all they want to do.

Yes they do have that special panache to them.
In old aristocratic times, status depended on avoiding any real work and managing to live off luxury on the hard labor of others.
Humans don’t change that much.
