With all due respect, the proper term is the stockmarket. The stockmarket is the place where people buy and sell stocks bonds, mutual funds and other financial instuments.
You will have to learn what the financial instruments are and how they work before you start to buy and sell them. http://www.financial-realities101.com/financialmarkets.html has a lot of information about the stock market. It written for the beginner.
