Is there a difference between the two? In addition: http://www.bivio.com/index.html Is opening an account here the same as opening a hedge fund or an investment partnership? I know Warren Buffett began before Berkshire Hathaway the Buffett Partnership, is what is shown on this website similar?

or is it an unofficial, loosely defined term to describe entities with certain characteristics?

Every website about hedge funds seems to want to sell me a fund or tell me how great their company is. Is there a site that explains hedge funds without a sales pitch?

In high school concentrate on math and accounting. And if you want to be a hedge fund manager, in college major in finance, with emphasis in financial accounting, or major in accounting, and again math and statistics. And obtain an MBA.

I second what Jeff said. I’d just add that instead of getting an MBA, you could get an accounting designation (like CFA, or CA (in Canada)), which is what I am doing. From what many people in the industry tell me, an accounting designation is just as good, if not better than many MBAs, depending on the school.
But before you jump to far ahead, you should see if you have a knack for finance after taking a few university finance and accounting courses.
