What kind of investing gives you a dividend or check every month, etc?

I have a retirement account (403b) that I invest money into every month. However, I’d like to expand my investing and do the “stocks and bonds” thing to get a dividend as “income” on a regular basis. Is it wrong for employers to give employees 401Ks?

I think it is wrong because the majority of employees who use to mop floors, serve food, drive trucks etc or plainly non financial sector employment, once retired are still people who mop floors, serve food, drive trucks etc with stocks and bond, that have no idea what to do with them.
