The required returns on all stocks are the same, and the required returns on stocks are higher than the required returns on bonds. The required returns on stocks equal the required returns on bonds. Also, if you can’t advertise as a hedge fund manager, how do you get potential clients / capital for the fund that you start? Depends on the rest of your portfolio. If you have multiple securities you could have it pay to cash so that you a) always carry a cash position to buy when opportunities arise and b) so you can further diversify your account.
Advocates of reinvesting usually like it because it’s free to do, which is a fine argument, but I like diversification and flexibility.

That is an excellent idea to compound your gains. There is one drawback: It will complicate your cost basis when you sell, so this works best when applied to stock mutual funds or stocks held within a self-directed IRA. Also, for those who are invested in loaded mutual funds that invest in stock, this is a way to purchase additional shares without cost.

If it is not a tax free account (IRA or 401k), I would recommend not doing reinvestment. This is because when you sell them, you will have to determine the price of every reinvestment when filing taxes. For example, over a 20 year period with quarterly dividends, you will have to keep track of the cost of 40 different reinvestments for every stock owned.

Take care of the profit sharing and matching contributions in your paycheck
breakdown, right along with your employee contributions.
I’m with Wells Fargo for my 401K (they’re the worst I’ve ever dealt with as
far exporting transactions into Money) so I have to do everything manually.
Sounds like you’ll have to manually adjust every three months, as well,
during reconciliation by zeroing out your cash account and updating the money
market account to agree with your statements.
